Originally from the UK, Pete has worked in the Netherlands for more than 20 years. After 5 years in-house at ASML, he worked for 10 years at the private practice DeltaPatents as partner, attorney and tutor in European and PCT law. As partner, he was responsible for their formalities group. He also was one of the original tutors training NL patent administrators, and passed the first exam in 2011 to become a Certified Formalities Officer (NL). He also passed the first EPAC exam in 2022. In 2017 he started his own firm, Fireball Patents, providing costeffective patent services to SME's and startups. He handles his own formalities before the NL, EP and IB offices. He is also the author of the PCT reference PCT.App, available as a fully customisable reference in IP appify's online platform, or as a printed book.

The purpose of this online course is to inform the participants how to prepare an international application for filing under the PCT and subsequently monitor the consecutive procedural steps, timelimits and payment of fees in the PCT international phase up to and including entry into the national phase in designated and elected states.
PCT provides a pool of options which can be used in many ways. This advanced seminar enhances your understanding of PCT formal
requirements by discussing them in relation to specific goals. By explaining why each option is chosen, participants gain an indepth appreciation of their contribution to the goals of the applicant, and the possible benefits and risks of each option.
Goals covered include avoiding filing and search problems, reducing administration in the national phases, improving the quality and speed of patentability opinions, increasing value for the applicant, fixing unusual problems, and smoothing national entry.
Participants will have the opportunity to raise questions on all aspects of the procedure as it applies during the international phase and on entry into the national/regional phase.
